Claeys Candy HQ and Manufacturing Plant
South Bend, Indiana
After 102 years in business, most of that time in downtown South Bend, the Claeys Candy Company chose Panzica to design and build a modern confectionery facility. The plant is on a premier six-acre site in Blackthorn Business Park along the 180-90 Indiana Toll Road just north of South Bend International Airport. Built of precast-prestressed concrete to provide a hygienic environment for making the chocolate and old-fashioned hard candy treats that Claeys sells across the USA and internationally, the facility was planned-for expansions to accommodate future growth.
A colorful “candy drops” tower element at the front entry gives the building gives the building a distinctive Mid-Century design vibe. New production and warehousing areas planned by Panzica, combined with new state-of-the-art European candy making equipment, is helping Claeys effectively double their production capacity to satisfy America’s sweet tooth with more delicious, high-quality confections in a facility ready for their next 100 years.
